I developed and coded by hand Synaptic.TV after finishing CEGEP / College in 2003 to publish my short films and the shorts of some of my friends. Having studied Multimedia Integration there were also Flash games, a link page imitating Fark, movie reviews, wallpapers and a full blown social website with user profiles like a cheap Facebook/Myspace for filmmakers. It was all over the place and while pieces of that content can still be found on the site the focus is just the short films.

I am Olivier Bonenfant and all my short films are made under the label Synaptic.TV since 2003.

My passion for filmmaking started when I was 8 years old with my first 20 minute film. A big naïve mess but not only was it featuring time travel, cyborgs and knife fights (real ones), I went as far as doing a remake of the same film when I was 13 years old. That remake had a running time of 1 hour and 58 minutes. These two films were already showing my propension for weird, absurd stories mixed with over the top situations/action. In CEGEP/College I got a Digital 8 camera and got back to wannabe film-making and about 15 new short films were produced. So it's on cheap special effects and an overdose of explosions that I climbed the ladder the amateur film-making publishing my work on this site and at various fests and contests. Professionally, I am a VFX artist and mographer and I worked for Ubisoft Montreal, for TQS, a TV channel in Quebec, as a director and creating spots on giant screens for clients like Dreamworks, 20th Century Fox, Sony BMG, Sony Playstation, Universal Music, L'Oreal, Parasuco, etc.. These days I'm based in Australia and continued to make short films part of the Kino Movement with the local group Filmonik Melbourne.

It's really without pretension that my work is here. The real need being to communicate, learn, entertain and produce something unusual. With the years passing I have a newfound proudness on having a website considering the monopoly Youtube, Facebook (and Vimeo) have on video publishing. It's a lot of work maintaining my own thing but I'm having fun.

Some time when I was coding this.
